Camping/Backpacking/Hiking?

Our biggest hike so far is trekking through the Andes Mountains in Peru for 3 days straight. Here are some things I highly recommend bringing:

-A camping tent since obviously you’ll be sleeping outside. However if you book a tour with a guide, they will provide that for you.
-Warm compression pants or thermal leggings/yoga pants literally make a huge difference when nighttime falls. They also make it easier to layer your clothing.
-Hiking shoe preference will vary per person, but we loved the five finger Vibrams because they strengthen your feet. Be mindful that there is a learning curve to these shoes and your feet will ache if you are not used to it. However, their solid quality, water durability, and sole grips, make them the perfect shoe in our book.
-Windbreaker jackets are a must! They are light, yet will protect you from getting sunburned or soaked if it rains. It’s the perfect jacket for trekking.
-A bladder bag (or camel pack) is perfect for carrying your water supply without feeling a hard bulky flask on your back while trekking.

Bora Bora is one of the most photogenic spots we have ever vacationed. Here are a list of things we brought with us that helped us document all the beauty this island had to offer!

-Most importantly, get a Go Pro! You’ll want all those water photos, because it’s one of the clearest waters you’ll ever see. It also helps significantly to have a selfie stick for taking wide photos. If you want to take photos with your phone to update your Snapchat or Instagram, you can get a cheap waterproof phone pouch that you can wear around your neck.
-Wearing cute floral dresses, and beach cover ups came in handy; as Bora Bora is a little more conservative than our home in Hawai’i and you can’t wear bikinis to the restaurants along the beach.
-Also recommend getting a cute beach hat because even when we went to French Polynesia in December, it was extremely hot and humid.. and this coming from people who are from Hawai’i.
-If you’re like us, and care about the ingredients in your sunscreen for the sake of the environment and your skin, we recommend getting marine and reef safe sunscreen. Our favorite brand is Sun Bum; on that note please only use lotion or stick. Do not use spray, as this is still harmful to the environment.
-One thing we totally forgot to bring, was a snorkel! We were kicking ourselves pretty hard over this, because Bora Bora had schools of fish that we could see from our balcony!
-Last thing is a dry bag, so you can bring your belongings with you while you’re adventuring. It’s the most effective waterproof bag we have ever used.
